To date, The Water Dialogues have been established in Brazil, Indonesia, the Philippines, South Africa and Uganda.
All these countries themselves chose to participate based on the commitment of a variety of sector stakeholders, including national government, to engage in dialogue.
Each national dialogue is a microcosm that reflects the global debate over private sector involvement in water and sanitation services. They bring together people with different perspectives and interests including for example:
- national and local government
- regulatory authorities
- private sector providers, both domestic and trans-national
- public sector providers
- small-scale service providers and poor communities
- trade unions
- development, environment and consumer NGOs.
